Certification as an AS-C or RNAS-C™ trained assistant protects
the public and provides evidence to employers that the certified
individual has met academic and national standards for the
knowledge required of first assistants at surgery. Through voluntary
certification, these college graduates are able to validate their
competency in the assisting arena by an outside source–the
National Assistant at Surgery Council™. Assistants at surgery who take the AS-C
or
RNAS-C™ exams are authorized to use the Assistant in Surgery -
Certified™ (AS-C) Registered Nurse Assistant in Surgery - Certified™
(RNAS-C™ ) credentials so long as they keep their certification current.
