Certification as an AS-C, college trained assistant protects the
public and provides evidence to employers that the certified individual
has met and exceeded the academic and national standards for the
knowledge required of first assistants at surgery. Through voluntary
certification, these college graduates are able to validate their
competency in the assisting arena by an outside source–the
National Assistant at Surgery Council™. Accredited college
trained assistants at surgery who take the AS-C exam are authorized
to use the Assistant in Surgery - Certified™ and AS-C™
credential so long as they keep their certification current.
